Center For Faith & Health

The Center for Faith and Health, developed in collaboration with Covenant Ministries of Benevolence, was created to equip Christian leaders in health and ministry to integrate faith and health in professional and congregational settings. To this end, the Center provides educational opportunities and consultation.

Academic Educational Opportunities


For chaplains, pastors, health ministers, parish nurses, physicians, social workers, therapists

Classes in Faith and Health taught online
or as one week intensive classes on campus in June

  • Biblical Perspectives on Health and Healing
  • Theology of Caring and Health
  • Engaging Congregations in Ministries of Health
  • Spiritual Issues in Chronic Illness & Disability
  • Ethics of Caring and Health
  • Experiences of the Body in Pastoral Ministry

  • Connecting Faith and Health in the Congregation
  • Health and Justice
  • Reflections on Health Ministry Practice
  • Christian Spirituality and Health
  • Periodically, mission trip/classes are offered with a community health emphasis
  • Certificate in Faith and Health includes 15 credits of graduate work providing core concepts to support health professionals and clergy in their health ministries. It is possible to complete the certificate online.

    Master of Arts in Christian Ministry offers a concentration in Faith and Health and can be completed in a combination of online and on campus intensive courses.

    Informal Educational Opportunities

    Conferences

    Periodically, national conferences are offered prior to the Covenant Midwinter Conference. Past conferences have included Faith, Food & Fitness in 2008, The Church's Response to Health Care Injustice in 2005, The Church’s Challenge in Chronic Illness and Disability in 2003 and Faith and Health: Making the Connection in 2001.

    Staff are available to provide workshops in local congregations. Possible topics include:
